Booking a summer geese hunting at the beginning of the season will make you
an unforgettable memory for a life time.
The area that we propose is around Suhaia lake, in South of Romania:

A significant number a geese pairs are nesting in the tail of the lake,
in the small delta there. To get a general idea about the beauty of the
delta you can watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeFWcYAOYew
In our opinion this area is one of the best geese hunting spots in
Romania
Romania goose hunting season start at 1 of September and is better to be
here at the opening dates. Why? Because the geese will feed in the areas
near the lake and they will not be spooky. Young birds are inexperienced
and old birds are have been forget the last season.
From our experience it is the time frame with the highest number of
birds killed. The period is so good that most of the time we have to
remember our clients to slow down…after all..we are hunters…not
killers.
Here are some tips for successful geese hunting in Romania.
The geese hunt, as all gees hunts start at least few days prior the
hunters arrival. Our guides will be in the fields looking where the
geese will feed. 3, 4 days before the hunt we set the layout blinds in
order to use with.
This is an important aspect that most of the outfitters doesn’t take
care.
Well if the feeding area permit for comfort of the hunters we made some
blinds in the field, but those blinds should be made at least 5 days
before the hunt. Geese are always suspicious with new appearance in
their feeding areas.
For those who want to know how a greylag hunting in Romania trip will
look like with our company this article is a must.
Let’s say you have booked a summer geese hunting with us. One of our
outfitters will wait for you at the airport.
The gun formalities at the custom are very easy, it will take maximum 10
minutes. The transfer from airport to the accommodation place will takes
another 1.5 hour maximum, depending on the traffic. After hunters are
checking in…during the dinner the outfitter will tell you what is the
situation in the field and you will discuss the strategy for next
morning.
The adventure will start next day, very early in the morning. Our staff
will set up the decoys, check the layout blinds and callers, before
hunters arrival in the feeding places.
First and second days are always a success in the same area but the last
day is not that good. Normally the geese will change the feeding area.
Our guides will monitor the new feeding place where the geese will land
and in the last day we can hunt there or hunters can go for a duck hunt
in the last day. Hunters choices.
If you have tried the geese hunt, before this is the trip we recommend
it. It is a little cheaper as a normal geese hunt but we always have
great results.
The first question that pop-up is: Why is cheaper?
First of all when we are saying “normal geese hunt” we are referring to
specklebelly geese hunt.
At the beginning of the hunting season, summer gees feed in an area
close to their nesting places. So, no countless days of observations
before the hunters arrival (no diesel costs).
When they feed the same place every day and fly in small flocks , you
don’t need hundreds of decoys as for specklebelly. One car is enough to
transport 20-30 decoys. No trailers, no drivers, no diesel, not start
spreading the decoys at midnight as we do for specklebelly. Of course
all actions above come with a cost. And this is why this hunt is
cheaper.
We hope you have now a general idea about the greylags hunt in Romania
and our September geese hunting offer.
