Roe deer hunting season in Romania
The hunting season for roe deer male, also known as roe buck, start on 1 of May and end on 15th of October. First three weeks of May are extraordinary for buck hunting. Temperature is very nice and vegetation is not very tall and you can spot the bucks easily.
Now, most of the hunters are looking for the very first days of the opening season, hoping they will get the first chance for the biggest bucks. And that is correct, of course. But let me tell you a secret, from my experience, the week 3 of May get slightly bigger bucks. Probably, the reason is the vegetation. First two weeks of May, vegetation is too low and big, old experience bucks do not feel comfortable to get expose in the low grass. Later the vegetation is high covering their bodies but still ok to spot their heads.
Second best period for roe buck hunting in Romania is last week of July and first week of August, during the roe deer rut time.
This time temperatures are higher and morning and late afternoon hunts sessions are shorter, but the trophies are heavier and darker in color. Prime time is from 25 July to 5 of August, best time is from 20 July to 10 of August.
I do not recommend trips after 15 of August for roe bucks.
For roe doe(female) the hunting season is from 1 of September until 15 of February. In my opinion this is one of the most underrated hunts. It is fun, it is challenging, relatively cheap and you can have an extraordinary adventure with your friends in Romania.
Fallow deer hunting season in Romania
Fallow buck hunting season run from 1 of September until 15 of December. Best time is during the rut (!0 October end of October)when you can experience the sounds of dozens of fallow bucks roar in the same time. To be honest in our areas, you can hunt them from the beginning of the season until the end with 100% chances for a big male without any problems.
One think that worth to be mentioned is the fallow deer meat. The most tender venison in Romania.
Does can be hunted in the same period as roe doe, from 1 of September until 15 of February.
Chamois hunting season in Romania
For chamois both males and females are consider trophies, they both have horns, like oryx in Africa. The difference is that females horns are narrower and have a less pronounced hook at the end of the horn
The hunting season start on 1 of September until 15th of December, no difference between male and female hunting season.
The rut season is between 15th of October and 15th of November.

Red stag season start from 1 of September until 31th of December. Best time is, of course, during the rut 15th September to 30th of September. As general rule colder days make rut more aggressive and warmer days slow down the rut. If the weather is warm, the rut can last until 5th of October sometime later and actually some of the bigger stags that we shot in the last years was of 30th of September.

In Romania, at this point we have 2 hunting season for brown bear hunting, spring and fall season.
Spring hunting season start on 1 of March and ends on 15th of May. The best time is around 5 of April. After beginning of May the bears are not coming for bait regularly and the skin is starts turning bad as summer close.
In spring bears are up to 25% less heavy as body weight but the coat is very good, the best.
Fall season is from 15th of September until 31 of December and the best time is from 15th of October until end of November.
