- Is it safe to travel and hunt in Romania?
Definitely, yes! Romania is more safer than most of European countries and for sure more safer than USA (especially big cities).
- Do I need a Visa?
Hunters from USA, Canada and all European countries do not need VISA to enter in Romania. Actually very few hunters from outside of Europe need VISA to enter in Romania, please ask us to make sure.
- What language(s) will be spoken during the hunt?
English! Due to high number of Italian hunters and similarity between Romanian and Italian language, a lot of rangers are talking Italian too..
- Should I book a package hunt or hunt “a’la carte”?
It depends on what are you looking for. If you are looking for a hunting experience and adventure go for package hunt. If you are looking for a trophy of a life time go for a’la carte.
- How can I protect myself from fraud or misunderstanding?
Don’t send big deposit to book the hunt and bring cash with and pay at the end of the hunt to avoid fraud. As as many questions as you need when you have any doubts or unclear thing. Everything by email, not by phone. This way all discussions will remain and you will have a proof in case of disagreement. But any serious outfitter will not risk his reputation for a misunderstanding.
- What is included in the price and what is not?
Always ask this question and make it clear. Even with the same outfitter what is included in one area can not be included in other area.
- What are “Travel days” and are they included in the price?
You don’t normally go hunting straight from the airport, the arrival and departure days are consider travel days and we include those on the cost of the hunt.
- Do the trophy fees include the license fees?
Yes, the license fees are not existing in Romania.
- What is the arrival procedure at the airport?
If you are coming without a gun, no procedure. If you are bringing your own gun, the custom police will check your gun serial number and the hunting invitation that we will send it to you. It will take 10 minutes maximum.
- Will there be anyone to meet me at the airport?
Yes, we will send one of our drivers or even outfitters to wait for you at the airport.
- How far is the drive from the airport?
It depends on the area, most of our areas are between 1 to 5 hours drive from the airport.
- Do you accept more than one hunting party at a time?
It depends on the area, but we always tell our clients before booking.
- What kind of accommodation can I expect?
You will receive pictures or website of the accommodation before booking. All of our accommodation are 3 or 4 stars, clean and private bath rooms. Always single room.
- Is there a safe at the lodge or hotel?
Not all of our accommodation have vault in the rooms, ask us before and we will find a solution.
- Do I need to bring soaps and shampoos?
No, no.
- Should I bring my own rifle or rent a rifle from the outfitter?
I always recommend our clients to bring their own rifles if possible. However, we have many good rifles for renting, even for left handed hunters.
- What are the rules for coming with a rifle, and what paperwork I would need to fill?
In this case we have 2 scenarios:
1- hunters from inside European Union.
For them is easier, you show them your outfitter hunting invitation and your european gun passport.
2- hunters outside EU need also outfitter hunting invitation, gun permit and border custom permit to enter Romania.
- How much ammunition can I bring into the country?
For shotgun, 300 shells is the limit, for rifle, I suggest maximum 50.
- Which is the best airline to use when flying with firearms?
Many airline are good, but not all of them operate in your country, so better ask your outfitter before.
- What are the regulations when flying with firearms?
This is a question that you have to ask your airline company.
- What clothes am I going to need?
Ask your outfitter. Depending on your hunt, he will send you a list with what is best.
- What shoes should I wear?
Shoes are important, the best you can afford, I would say. But remember to wear them few time before your trip.

- Do I need a soft gun case?
Yes, we do recommend that if you bring your own gun
- Should I bring shooting sticks?
No, unless you have a model that you are very comfortable with…
- We will hunt in the fenced area?

- What are the styles of hunting expected during the trip?
Wild boar and bear are hunting over the bait or driven hunts. roebuck, fallow buck and red stag are spot and stalk and chamois is climbing.
- How do you measure trophy size?
Chamois and bear are measured with CIC measurement system, red stags, fallow buck and roe buck are measured and charged by the weight of the trophy.
- What is the typical shooting distance?
Wild boar and bear are 50 meters, roe, fallow and red are 50 to 150, maybe 200 for red stag and chamois is over 200 meters, sometimes even 300 meters.
- How does the weather affect hunting?
A lot. I will probably need a whole big article to write about how the weather affect all hunts depending on the species, but you will hunt, no matter what the weather will be.
- Does the moon cycle affect hunting?
A little bit, yes!
- Can we hunt at night?
For wild boars and brown bears yes, it is the best time…
- Will we check our scopes on the range before hunting?
Yes, we do recommend that.
- Do you offer additional excursions?
Yes, we work with several tourism agencies and sometimes our outfitters can guide you for tourism also.
- What are the taxidermy options for my hunting trophies?
I have to be honest here, Romania is a great destination for hunting but taxidermy is only mediocre.
- What vaccinations and other medical precautions do I need?
No medical precautions are need it in Romania.
- What about Covid?
At the time when I am writing this article, November 2023, Covid is almost non existent and no special measurement are need it.
- What can I take for jet lag?
For those who don’t know what jet lag is: Jet lag is a type of fatigue caused by travelling across different time zones. I suggest one day and one night before the hunt to get use with time zone.
- What kind of food can we expect?
Delicious! We suggest to try our traditional food but you will find all kind of food, italian, spanish, chinese, american, etc
- What about venison?
Of course, just inform your outfitter you want to try some of your venison that you killed and he will arrange it for you.
- Can I drink the water?
You better use the bottle water and remember that we, in Romania, like sparkling water. So, when you ask for a water, mention, still water or no bubbles water.
- What kind of alcohol is available in the accommodation?
Most type, if you have some special preference just tell your outfitter before your arrival.
- What payment options are available?
Bank transfer and cash.
- Can I draw money from the ATM?
Small amounts are ok, but the exchange rate in ATM is bad.
- What about tips?

90% you will have coverage, but sometimes your phone company must be inform you will travel to Romania to activate your roaming.
- May I take and post photos on my cell phone?
Of course, but we recommend discretion when you are posting on social media. A lot of “green people” on those platforms
